In the heart of Valletta, KEIRO Architecture and Design undertook the challenge of transforming a compact, historic space into Vinuri—a versatile venue that elegantly transitions from a daytime coffee lounge to a vibrant wine bar in the evening. The project, commissioned by Kelsey Barbara and Philip Edward Grech, required a sensitive balance between functionality and heritage preservation.

Faced with the spatial constraints typical of Valletta’s historic buildings, the studio optimized every inch of the layout to accommodate all catering needs while maximizing seating capacity. The property’s architectural heritage was thoughtfully celebrated, with intricate cornices and original details repurposed as focal points within the seating area, adding character and a sense of history to the space.

To maintain a harmonious blend of old and new, the design concept employs a curated color palette, rich materials, and custom woodwork that not only create an illusion of spaciousness but also present Valletta’s timeless charm through a contemporary lens. The result is an intimate yet dynamic environment that invites guests to linger, whether for a morning coffee or an evening glass of wine.
